Frequently asked questions
Do you offer headshots? Yes, but only as a studio add-on to an editorial session. I do not produce conventional corporate headshots characterized by staged tropes like crossed arms or rigid poses. My studio work is distinctive and appropriate for high-level professional use while remaining focused on revealing character.
What if I don’t like the photos? A $300 non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date. This covers my professional time and session preparation, and ensures a mutual commitment to the shoot. If, upon reviewing the proofing gallery, you feel the creative direction does not meet your expectations, the process can conclude amicably with no further payment required.
Do I need to credit you when using these? For casting profiles, portfolio books, or social media, a credit is not strictly required. You are the star of the show. Credits are always appreciated, but the only requirement is that the images must not be manipulated or filtered without my consent.
Do you use AI? / Why shouldn't I? No. My work is built on what is physically present in front of the lens. AI-generated images are synthetic averages; they lack the nuance of a real moment. There is profound value in documenting an authentic version of yourself that you actually recognize and respect.
Can I purchase the RAW files or edit the images myself? Most pro photographers won't do this and I'm no exception. The processed images represent the finished artistic work. Furthermore, the use of third-party filters or any AI-driven enhancements on delivered files is strictly prohibited to maintain the authenticity and technical integrity of the portrait.
I don’t photograph well. Can you help me? Absolutely. My role is to guide you through the session using light and timing to capture your best, most genuine self. Most people who feel they "don't photograph well" are simply used to poor lighting or forced posing.
When and where do the sessions take place? I prefer morning or early evening hours for the most effective natural light. While I enjoy the energy of San Francisco’s public locations, I am available to shoot in offices or private residences when the environment adds necessary context to the portrait.
