What happens next?
After you make a reservation, you'll complete short intake quiz and sign an industry-standard model release form. I'll reach out by text, DM, or voice call — your choice — to lock in your date.
Safety. I prefer to shoot outdoors in public places for both our safety. As a model, you are welcome to bring a friend who will help you feel more at ease so long as they don't interfere or try to direct the shoot. Protip: Never accept a photoshoot from someone who doesn't extend this courtesy.
Before the shoot, I'll often put together a personalized Pinterest mood board to give you a sense of the look and feel we're going for. The goal isn't to copy anything — it's simply to make sure we share a common vision for our time together.
On shoot day, we'll meet at a safe public location near one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods and spend a few minutes mapping out our approach. More often than not, your wardrobe will point us in the right direction.
During the shoot, I'll guide you through spots I discover in the moment — nothing pre-planned. Every session is spontaneous and shaped entirely around you.
Afterward — usually within a week — I'll send you a private gallery of proofs to choose your favorites from. You're welcome to share the link with friends or family for a second opinion. Your selections will be professionally retouched and delivered as high-resolution downloads in multiple formats.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is an editorial session? I specialize in magazine-style lifestyle and editorial portraits shot on location in San Francisco. We use the city's architecture, light, and texture as context, not backdrop. You'll be walking and talking, not standing still while someone adjusts your chin. The result looks like you at your best, somewhere real.
Where. Generally, I like do my free shoot near the Transamerica Pyramid downtown. It's an ideal starting point as the Financial District, Chinatown, North Beach, and Jackson Square are right there. So we have a lot of looks to choose from depending on which direction we walk. For free shoots, I'm willing to consider alternatives on a case-by-case basis.
I don't photograph well! Challenge accepted! My job is to guide you through the session, using light, timing, and conversation, to draw out your most genuine self.
I don't know how to pose! Good editorial portraits don't require posing. I'll talk with you, move with you, and offer simple cues along the way. The goal is flattering images that look effortless, because they are. A Zoolander Blue Steel look is not required.
What should I wear? We'll be moving through the city, walking, talking, in motion, so wear what genuinely feels like you. Comfort reads on camera. A few things that tend to work well: solids hold up against varied outdoor backgrounds, and layers are always a smart call in San Francisco. Things to avoid: prominent logos and team graphics pull the eye away from your face and date the image quickly. Hats cast shadows and hide features. Busy patterns compete with the environment. This is about you!
Do I need to credit you when using the images? Credits are always appreciated, but never required. Not for casting profiles, agency submissions, portfolio books, or social media. The images are yours. The only firm requirement is that they aren't manipulated, filtered, altered, or used for commercial purposes without consent.
Do you retouch? Do you use AI? Good light does most of the heavy lifting. Where needed, I use standard dodge-and-burn techniques to remove temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and minor distractions. I don't reshape body parts, alter facial features, or use AI generative fill. The goal is a portrait that meets modern editorial standards and images thay you are genuinely proud of, not a version of yourself you don't recognize.
What if I don't like the images? Just tell me during the selection stage. You'll get refund.
